AHA & BHA Skincare Products FAQ
What are AHA's and BHAs?
- AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) are water-soluble acids that help peel away skin’s surface to reveal softer and more evenly pigmented skin.
- BHAs (beta hydroxy acids) are oil-soluble acids that skink deep into pores to dry out excess oils and power away dead skin cells and other buildup.
Benefits of AHAs and BHAs:
- Smooth skin texture
- Gentle exfoliants
- Reveal younger-looking skin
- Reduce inflammation
Plant-Based Alternatives to AHAs and BHAs:
Willow Bark: This natural BHA alternative is extracted from mature willow bark and works like a gentle form of salicylic acid to help to unclog and minimize the appearance of pores.
Who Needs a Hyaluronic Acid Serum?
Short answer: Everyone. Because hyaluronic acid is the main reason your skin’s structure can look bouncy, hydrated and glowy, it’s no surprise everyone wants to add a little extra to their skincare routine. By using a hyaluronic acid serum, you can experience anti-aging benefits, increased moisturization, and enhanced skin elasticity. Dab it on after cleansing while you skin is still damp, then follow up with a face cream!
What Makes Our AHA Skincare Clean?
Just like many products in the Beekman 1802 line, our AHA skincare is clean, cruelty-free, made with natural ingredients and fragrance free. We know how sensitive skin can react with harsh chemicals, strong scents, and toxic ingredients which is why we’ve prioritized the opposite. We’re in the business of making gentle, yet effective, skincare for all skin types. Simple and clean starts here.
When to Apply Your BHA Toner?
Like AHAs, BHAs (or beta-hydroxy acids) are skin exfoliants, but these can penetrate deeper into your pores to remove dead skin and excess oil. If you’re using a BHA toner, you should apply after cleansing, but always follow up with a hydrating serum. Though BHA skincare products are safe for all skin types, you never want to leave your skin too dry.
