In our 2018 Fall Almanac, we had a section of our favorite “cheats” desserts. A cheat dessert is all about using simple recipes and shortcuts to produce delicious results. This quick blueberry sauce is a great basic recipe to have on hand to make any dessert extra special. Pro tip: Josh likes to use a little liqueur instead of water when he makes this recipe to give it an extra kick.

  • 9 oz blueberries
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 3½ tablespoons water
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

Additional Information

  • Total Time: 5m

Bring the blueberries, lemon juice, water and sugar to the boil in a medium saucepan.

Reduce the heat and simmer until slightly thickened, about 5 minutes.

What kind of liquor does Josh put in the blueberry sauce? I can follow a recipe and this looks great, but I am not a clever cook. Love your products.

Regarding the blueberry sauce… stated Josh likes to use a liqueur……how much water does he use and how much liqueur does he use? Also what liqueur does he use? Thank you in advance for your answer to my question…….Happy Fall wishes…….Pat 🤗

Can the sauce be frozen? I live in Michigan where blueberries are plentiful and would like to make a large batch of the sauce next year and freeze.
