Can I visit/tour the farm?
The farm is open occasionally for tours. Please sign up for our email newsletter for announcements on future tours. Due to shooting and personal schedules, unfortunately we can’t accommodate individual requests.

I have sensitive skin. Which of your soaps would be best for my skin-type?

All of our soaps are chemical free and were created for people with sensitive skin. Our most gentle soaps are the Beekman 1802 Original and the Honey Bar.

Will there be a Beekman cookbook?

Yes! We are working on a Beekman 1802 cookbook. No publishing date has been set yet. But we have several recipes here on the site in our Food & Wine section.

What are the Beekman 1802 store hours?

We are open 7 days a week from 10am – 6pm.

Where did you get the shelves that are in your shop?

They are the Slone Leaning Bookcases from Crate & Barrel.

Is everything that is for sale in the store, available online?

Our Mercantile carries certain products that are currently available in-store only.  As we design new products, they debut in the Mercantile first, so be sure to stop by and see some of our specialty items.

Will Brent or Josh be at the store?

Brent is at the store most days, unless he’s in the city delivering cheese. Josh helps out on the weekends, if he’s finished with chores at the farm.

 

ONLINE ORDERS

I ordered cheese and soap – when can I expect to receive my order?

The cheese ships separately from all other products and is shipped out on Mondays only, via USPS Priority Mail. Our general policy is to ship all other orders within 24 hours of receiving them, although on rare occasions if there is a surge in a particular product, there may be some delay as everything is handmade.

 

BLAAK CHEESE:

How do you store the cheese? We recommend storing in the refrigerator with the wheel wrapped in plastic wrap to prevent drying and serving the cheese at room temperature.

What is the shelf life of the cheese?

Blaak is an aged cheese, and as it ages further it will become drier and sharper, but its shelf life is many months.

Can the cheese be frozen?

It can, but we do not recommend it as it slightly changes the texture of the cheese.

What kind of wine do you recommend pairing with your cheese?

The saltiness allows it to pair well with Riesling, while the complexity is paired well with a Boudreaux or Malbec, but really it pairs well with whatever wine you like best.

I received my cheese, but the ice packs had melted upon arrival. Is the cheese still safe to eat?

The cheese is packed inside an insulated sleeve along with the ice packs to ensure that it stays at a cool temperature throughout delivery, and once received it is best served at room temperature.

There’s a white mold growing on the outside of my cheese.  Is it OK to eat?

Your cheese is completely fine.  Mold grows on the cheese naturally as it ages in the cave.  This is what gives the cheese its unique flavor.   We brush the mold off before shipping but it will re-grow when given the optimal environments (cool temps and moisture).  You can either eat the mold along with the rind or you can use a vegetable brush to brush off the mold (do so over the sink as ash will fly).

Season 1 is available on DVD and streaming on Netflix.  Both seasons can be downloaded on iTunes and Amazon Prime.

Can I get an autographed picture of the Beekman Boys?

We’re not famous enough for that!

Can we visit the church that was converted to a house?

The church is a private residence and not open to visitors.

How did the table get inside?

Lucky for us, the Beekman doorway has a thick threshold, and once removed, we removed the top and were able to get the table inside.

Who answers your fan mail?

We read all the mail ourselves and we make an effort to respond to as many as we can, but it’s tough with only the 2 of us and all the chores that still have to be done.

Where did Brent get the boots he wears on the show?

The boots were purchased at our local Agway farm supply store.

Who makes Josh’s glasses?

Josh’s glasses are designed by Alain Mikli. The line is called “Titane.”
