Grandmas hold a special place in everyone’s heart, and that’s because they know that the direct route to anyone’s heart is through their stomach.
This is the recipe that mapped directly to Brent’s
Ingredients:
1 tsp of vanilla
1 stick of butter
1/2 cup of whole milk
2 cups of sugar
2 1/2 cups of quick cooking oatmeal
4 tsp of cocoa
1/2 cup of extra crunchy peanut butter
Instructions:
Mix the butter, milk, sugar, and cocoa in a sauce pan and bring to a slow boil
Allow to boil for 3 minutes
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, peanut butter and oatmeal
On a sheet of wax or parchment paper, use a large spoon to portion out distinct circles. Note that the mixture will spread, but since you will be using a cookie cutter, this will not matter
Allow to sit for 4-6 hours

After the confection has set, use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut each one. (Eating the scraps as you go, of course!!)
Brent’s grandmother would often throw in a half-cup of raisins which make these cookies extra-chewy. As always, we encourage you to use your own creativity (and share your adaptations with the rest of us).

Hi, John
Let us know what you think
I have all those ingredients in the cupboard, plus an assortment of heart cookie cutters. I will have to whip up a batch of these, but I may need to drizzle a little chocolate on top!
My grandmother taught me how to make these when I was little! They are my mother’s favorite and I just made a batch last week!
I love the website! I have to try the Elderflower fritters.
Thanks for all the wonderful ideas and inspiration.
we are bonded by cookies, Mary!
Oh I love this and the possiblities are endless. It is hot here and I need something that does not require oven this weekend!
Thank you
