Monster Truck Beekman

A lot of people think that The Amazing Race is over for us. But the beauty of The Amazing Race is not just that we got to visit a lot of places in this world that we wouldn’t have otherwise….but it’s also that we got to meet 20 other super-cool people whom we never would’ve met otherwise.  And through them, we’re still sharing all kinds of amazing new experiences. (Even better…none of us have to be eliminated at the end of them!)

One of those amazing individuals we met is Rob French, a champion Monster Truck driver. He and his wife Kelley, (a champion rodeo rider,) are based in the tiny town of Boston, Georgia. We had a great time with them on the Race, and learned a lot from each other.

Rob recently came through Utica on a Monster Truck tour, and was kind enough to invite us to a show. It was our first Monster Truck Show! We’re not sure how many of you have had the chance to attend a Monster Truck rally, so we took good notes and lots of pictures.

Here’s Rob in action…(his truck is on the far track):

Click through the slide show below and learn what we did about the world of Monster Trucking. Thanks again, Amazing Race, for making our world bigger once again.

Just read both of Josh’s book. I might be a little bit in love with you, both! My husband’s OK with that. Please write another book, tomorrow! I haven’t laughed out loud, when reading a book, since the Lawrence Sanders books and I read a lot. Thanks for the fun!

You guys are adorable! It doesn’t matter what you are doing! Cute in Muck boots, cute on amazing race and cute at a monster truck rally! I never get tired of reading your blog, trying your recipes and admiring you guys!

I really enjoyed reading about your experiences at the monster truck rally. People aren’t really all that different across this great country of ours! Keep up the great work in getting us all to understand each other better!

I also went to my first Monster Truck Rally this year and LOVED it!!!! My daughter and I took 5 1/2 year old Jack and we all had a blast! Even the resulting deafness and the sore throats from screaming and swallowing dust didn’t deter us. We are looking forward to next year. I loved

It is so wonderful that you looked at the Amazing Race as an opportunity to meet new friends. It just goes to show what great people you are. Your moms should be bursting with pride that they have beautiful sons, not only on the outside, but also on the inside. You both have opened your hearts to so many people. And, what’s really great about that is that after all the successes that you have had in the past few years, you are still humble. The success, the notoriety, the fame…none of these things have made you arrogant — you still seem those same Beekman Boys that we met just a few short years ago trying to start a business! Thank you for staying grounded.

And, I know that this might sound really silly, but thank you for helping me through some very rough times. Whenever I get discouraged or just want to crawl in a hole, I keep thinking of Josh’s words…and I know that there is a light at the end of this very long tunnel I’m in.

I’m hanging! I feel like those kittens that you see on posters hanging on with their little claws! I just keep telling myself that things will get better. My daughter and I are swimming as fast as we can…but the hits keep on coming! 19 miles from work Van needs a new fuel pump…but we will figure it out. Josh’s words are my mantra now! You guys just keep inspiring and encouraging me and we will be OK.

omg that is so cool! To be honest, Rob didn’t came off ass really arrogant on the show, but then I realized that lots of people play that part (thinking that being overconfident will actually help). I really like his wife Kelly though. However! in the finale, when he had those kind words of you, he warmed up to me. I am so glad it brought a bunch of people together and that you continue to have love for each other.
    Love you guys!!!
Um are we getting season 3 of beekman boys…When???

Wonderful Mary joined you. You’re rockin’ the attire as always! (Smiling)

Judging from the empty seats, Utica isn’t a hot-bed of Monster Truck aficionados? Did they ever tell you what the purpose is, exactly, of this uniquely-American activity?

  • By: nlforst

Looks like a fabulous and interesting experience for you guys! Glad you keep in touch with your TAR family.
